Having a Budget, even with Food Allergies

Yes, you can maintain a budget, even with food allergies.  (Here is a link to a previous series I did on Frugal Food Allergy Living.)  There are so many blogs out there these days based on budgeting your life, ranging from coupon sites to daily budget tips.  You can even find a few sites dedicated to finding deals for allergy-friendly foods.  Today, I want to talk about one of the best sites and blogger out there, concerning her new book.

It is no secret that I support Crystal Paine at Money Saving Mom® for her no-nonsense, practical approach to budgeting her life, and not just financially.  Crystal also works hard at practically budgeting her time, her goals, and many other aspects of her life.

I was given the privilege in the fall to receive an advanced copy of Crystal’s new book The Money Saving Mom’s Budget, released today.  I highly recommend this book to anyone wishing to start and stick to a budget in this new year!  Crystal makes it so very easy to jump on this wagon and hang on.  Crystals says:

I’m convinced that anyone committed to changing their financial situation can do so-if they are willing to change their habits, to persevere even when it’s tough, and to keep their eyes set on the end goal.  The long-term benefits of short-term sacrifices and determination can be incredible.

  • This book is super easy and quick to read.  Every page is laid out with bullets, personal stories, “rules” for success, and much more.
  • Many of the points Crystal makes can be applied to other avenues of your life.  For example, she begins the book with encouraging points of how to set goals for success (not goals that you’ll later chuck).  She addresses issues of “clutter,” both physical and otherwise, in your life.
  • The financial tips to reducing debt and/or setting a budget are realistic.  She doesn’t expect you to pay down a 50k debt in a year.  She starts with baby steps to get you in the right frame of mind–to get your wheels turning.
  • Crystal doesn’t just give you some greats tips and leave you to figure it out.  At the end of the book, she has a number of worksheets that you can use to write down your goals, your priorities, your debt, your budget, and much more.  Writing things down is a big point Crystal makes to having success.  Words breed success in achieving goals.
  • I never felt like I had a finger shaking in my face at the various ways I fail to budget in my life.  With compassion, Crystal shares her practical life budget tips because she honestly wants you to have a happier and peaceful home.
  • One final note…Crystal went into this book deal with the decision that they would give every single penny of proceed to Compassion International.  She wrote about how that has been the biggest moment in her blogging career.

A budget gives purpose to your money and it frees you up to enjoy living life rather than spending most of your time worrying about how you’re going to afford to live.  And that, my friends, is one of the most peaceful feelings in all the world! (p.66)

So, have I convinced you that this book would be helpful to your life, whether you already budget it well or not, whether you have food allergies or not?  It is great for both newbies and veteran budgetters alike.  It is great for people who deal with the higher costs of allergy-friendly foods, and those who don’t.  You can click on the image link to order the book off Amazon.  You can also get a kindle version.

{Update: This giveaway is now closed.}

Even better, I’m giving away 5 copies of The Money Saving Mom’s Budget to my readers today thru Thursday.  Yippee!!!!  All you have to do to enter is leave a comment.  If you want, tell me why this book would be helpful to you.  Or simply say, “enter me in the giveaway.”  However you want to be entered, just do it!  You will not regret getting this book for free or putting out a little money to buy a copy.  I will randomly draw 5 winners on Friday morning and announce the winners.

    Thanks for the opportunity to win this book. A few years back, I took a different position within my company when a family member was diagnosed with cancer, so that I could be home and not travel. It was a 50% paycut but it was the right thing for my family. Six months later my husband left and I had to do some very fast adjusting, especially financially. I’m still learning and pulling myself out of this pit. I welcome all the advice and tips I can find.
