Celebrating Summer: Strawberries

It’s the most wonderful time of the year (in my book)!  Strawberry time!

Over the coming weeks, many people will be making the transition from school hours to those lazy-days-of-summer hours.  What better way to spend our warm days than with friends and family at a park, by poolside, or sharing our favorite foods right off the grill.  Nothing goes along with these days better than luscious strawberries.

Today’s post is a collection of strawberry recipes that each of you will enjoy as you bring home the ripe reds from the grocery store, farmer’s market, strawberry patch, or your own backyard.  I’ve included a variety of recipes: from Willing Cook creations to tried & true recipes we’ve enjoyed to dishes that I want to try during this season.

Have a fun & safe Memorial weekend!

Strawberry Pie from The Willing Cook

This is my allergy-friendly pie version.  My Pecan Crust or Pecan Crust II are great gluten-free crusts that would work nicely with this strawberry pie.

Fresh Strawberry Pie from Gracelaced

Ruth’s recipe is slightly different from my recipe above.  Although her recipe isn’t specifically allergy-friendly, it pretty much is naturally.  I can’t wait to try her recipe this season!

Strawberry Sauce from The Willing Cook

Just sub strawberries for the blueberries in this recipe.  Enjoy with pancakes or over dairy-free ice cream.

Jumble Berry Jam from The Nourishing Home

Use a variety of fruit or strawberries alone.  I made this recipe at Christmas time as gifts.  It is a wonderful recipe!  Make the jam, then use it in my recipe for Oatmeal Chia Fruit Bars. Yum!

Southern Style Strawberry Shortcake from The Nourishing Home

I hope to make this recipe asap!  It’s a gluten-free version and turned out beautifully.  I plan to also make it dairy & egg free.

Campfire Cones from Kids Activities Blog

You can read the post I did on this most wonderful and fun treat, both allergy & kid-friendly.  Click here for details.

Do you have a strawberry recipe that you’d like share?

Please do so in the comments.

{The Willing Cook will be off on Monday to enjoy Memorial Day with family.  See you back here on Tuesday as we continue our Life with Food Allergies series.}
